Minsk Linguistic Gymnasium is the oldest commercial educational establishment. In 1998 it passed the first state accreditation and got the right to give its school-leavers certificates of state standard for the next 5 years, in 2000 it was renamed into the Linguistic Grammar School (LGS). In 2002 year it celebrated its 10th anniversary. In 2003 it passed the latest state accreditation and got the right to give its school-leavers certificates of state standard for the next 5 years. Foreign languages are given a priority already in the primary school. The school day starts at 9:00 and is over at 17:00. The gymnasium curriculum includes general subjects, economics, law, a second foreign language, British culture, history, literature, logic, rhetoric, music. Extra curriculum activities include arts studio, school theatre, floristic studio, choreography and singing classes, piano, guitar, swimming, tennis, karate, optional lessons. Homework is done under supervision of the tutors. Social life is various: visiting theatres, museums, concerts. School minibuses deliver the students to school and back home. The students have four meals a day (homemade food, individual tastes are allowed for.) Twice a year the students undergo a thorough meuical examination, the medical staff includes: 3 children doctors, 2 psychologists, a speech therapist. There is a library with 5 thousand items, video-class, 2 gyms, a musical studio, and the assembly hall. The gymnasium has a preschool bilingual nursery. There are also part-time (evening) and Sunday schools providing early and all round development. On finishing children are automatically admitted to Minsk Linguistic Gymnasium.
